Yukon Words Society is a territorial not-for-profit cultural organization that represents, supports and promotes Yukon writers, storytellers and word artists at all levels and in all disciplines; welcomes, connects and builds an inclusive community of readers; and audiences, and fosters wide public access to and participation in Yukon writing and storytelling in all their forms.
Café des Voix is an initiative founded in late 2016 which gives new and emerging Yukon singers, as well as more established artists, the opportunity to work together with a professional jazz pianist to prepare songs for performance. It presents events in Whitehorse and other Yukon communities to feature vocalists who are working primarily on jazz repertoire, as well as related genres such as musical theatre, blues and western swing. Café des Voix is supported by ongoing sponsorship from Jazz Yukon and PJ Productions and takes every opportunity to provide singers with developmental workshops and coaching from local and visiting jazz artists.
