Foot in Mouth (Stand-Up and Sketch Comedy Basics for Women) FOR ALL THE SH*T YOU REALLY WANT TO SAY!

A taster of movement and active writing based techniques for developing audacious and hilarious stand-up routines and sketch comedy material.

Led by Jan Derbyshire. Jan toured as a stand-up comedian with Yuk Yuks and Punchlines back in the day and has appeared on A&E Funny Girls and CBC television and radio. She now writes funny scripts and is an award winning playwright. In her spare time she guides other people towards funnelling rage into funny sh*t.



JD's Bio: 

JD is an inclusive educator, innovator, mad activist, disability and transformative justice speaker, listener and activator. They are also a practicing writer, comedian, performer, playwright and theatre maker. JD’s work involves community and artist collaboration, co-design, writing, experimental storytelling, audio, digital interactions, event creation, participatory experiences, theatre performance and stand-up comedy.

They became entitled when they earned a Masters in Inclusive Design from OCAD University in 2014. In JD’s life/work especially over the last 7 years they have been trying to bring the language and concepts of equity, diversity, inclusion and accessibility into plain language and actionable items of change.

JD will continue to leverage the imaginations of themselves and community members to collectively envision a speculative future that allows everyone to bring their full humanity to everything they do. In the meantime, they will continue to find practical and meaningful ways to bring the imagined into the real.
