YAC is pleased to present Lance Sampson of Aquakultre, one of the highlights from the 2019 Dawson City Music Festival; selected for this special online concert by DCMF Artistic Director Andrea Vincent.
Working in a genre self-described as `aquavibe`, 27-year-old Lance Sampson displays a preternatural gift for individuation and inspiration. After a smattering of Soundcloud singles, including the effortless vibe-inducer `1 Spring Garden`, Sampson dropped his first collection, Water Temple, in late March 2017. Touching on nu-blues, R&B and spacious neo-soul, Aquakultre’s distinctive, captivating persona is felt throughout. After packing Aquakultre into a 4 piece band, adding power house musicians such as Nick Dourado (Century Egg, Beverly Glenn Copeland, Budi), Jeremy Costello (Special Costello, Rabies, Budi), and Nathan Doucet (Heaven For Real, EDDY, Fake Buildings), they’ve released their first full length LP ‘Legacy’ March 8th 2020. Whether its backed with his friends on stage, or just spinning backing tracks with his DJ, Aquakultre is one of Halifax’s must see projects.
