What if the Beatles never existed? A struggling musician realizes he's the only person on Earth who can remember The Beatles after waking up in an alternate timeline where they never existed.
Yesterday is a British romantic comedy/ tribute to the music of the Beatles film directed by Danny Boyle (Slumdog Millionaire, 28 Days Later). Jack Malik (Himesh Patel) is a struggling singer-songwriter in an English seaside town whose dreams of fame are rapidly fading, despite the fierce devotion and support of his childhood best friend, Ellie. After a freak bus accident during a mysterious global blackout, Jack wakes up to discover that The Beatles have never existed. Performing songs by the greatest band in history to a world that has never heard them, Jack becomes on overnight sensation. However, Jack finds himself drifting away from Ellie, only realizing his love for her when she has become intimidated by his success, which depends on a blatant plagiarization that no one could find out. Now, Jack must make a fundamental moral decision about his music to satisfy his conscience as he decides what he truly needs.
In English, Italian and Japanese with English Subtitles.
“Danny Boyle's light breeze of a romcom about a world without the Beatles has its heart firmly in the right place.” Peter Travers, Rolling Stone
